Performance is relative.
So the sales guy with the best territory and ten years experience is outselling the 23 year old whos been thrown onto a dead end patch with no product training. Come on! its not complicated is it.
Some people get there running downhill, some have to run up hill. If the race isn’t fair its not a race its a coronation.
So reward relative performance.
Give everyone a chance to show improvement. Todays start-up or newbie is tomorrows stella performer.
Encourage. Develop. Tease out a performance.
Don’t reward people ‘again’ for serving up the norm, the usual, the everyday. You should never feel like you’re paying people twice!
